GMOS – We Know The Food Is Unfit To Eat

This society is unfortunately plagued with poisons which many people are oblivious to. From rampant genetically modified organisms, pesticides and herbicides, and even the air and tap water, the average individual is flooded with a disturbing array of chemicals. These chemicals are causing devastating adverse reactions. They are becoming increasingly unavoidable and they are not there by accident.

We are raised from birth to believe certain things are beneficial for our health. You will, however, be surprised to learn the majority of what the average person consumes is not only bad for them, it is intentionally destructive.

“Agricultural biotechnology will find a supporter occupying the White House next year,
Regardless of which candidate wins the election.”
Monsanto Inhouse Newsletter, October, 2000

Agricultural biotechnology is the blanket term for genetically modified organisms (GMOs). GMOs are organisms (animals, plants) whose genetic material has been altered through the process of genetic engineering. In essence, genetic modification is the direct human manipulation of an organism’s genome (the entirety of an organism’s hereditary information). It involves splicing DNA from a foreign source into an organism of interest, thus creating new sets of modified genes and a new organism. Just like that nature is rendered obsolete.

They are a relatively new occurrence, introduced in 1996, and have been the basis for concern since and preceding this date. The long term effects of GMOs on our health and to our planet’s biodiversity are unknown.

Genetically modified canola crops are already growing beyond their farm field, and into the wild. As it currently stands, supermarkets can sell genetically modified food products without explicit labelling. Many genetically modified foods force their way onto the public’s plates without the public’s knowledge.

Because genes are mixed from totally unrelated species, GMO’s can host a wide range of unpredictable side effects, new toxins, allergens, carcinogens, and can also lead to nutritional deficiencies.

The most common reason to genetically modify a crop is to give it a resistance to herbicide so that people may douse their crops in toxins to kill weeds without risking damage to the plant. Another common GMO is one with an inbuilt pesticide to kill any insect that dare try and eat it.

Essentially, the plants are modified so they can either ‘drink’ or ‘produce’ poison.

Before I outline the inherent dangers of GMOs, it is important to acknowledge the above. In the first circumstance, the producer of the crop is given allowance to spray weed-killer recklessly, leaving a cumulative residue. In the second circumstance, the plant is able to kill insects through an inbuilt pesticide defence. You can only imagine what this is doing to you internally, systemically. Monsanto’s own studies showed that 28 days after application, only 2% of their herbicide product “Round Up” (Glyphosate) had broken down, a far-cry from their previous “biodegradable” claims.

It is natural to assume these GM crops underwent rigorous human testing before they were released to the public. Nevertheless, as with many things today, there have not been any human clinical trials. We are the guinea pigs for this disturbing experiment. “If there are problems,” says biologist David Schubert, PhD, of the Salk Institute, “we will probably never know because the cause will not be traceable and many diseases take a very long time to develop.”

There have, however, been numerous tests performed on animals with disastrous results. Rats that were fed GM soy experienced drastically reduced digestive enzymes, which gave them higher probability of allergic reactions to foods. In another similar test, female rats were fed GM soy and as a result many of their offspring died.

In fact, organ damage, gastrointestinal and immune system disorders, accelerated aging, and infertility were all cited as resultant effects of GMO’s on animals. The prevalence of these traits in humans has also increased since GMO’s were first introduced in 1996,6 although whether this is the result of GM crops alone is debatable.

The generational gaps between mice and rats can be measured in years, whereas with humans it takes many decades to measure. Within 3 generations, there was almost 100% infertility amongst all rats and mice and a higher mortality rate. Humans have been consuming genetically modified products in earnest for upwards of 15 years now. We are now almost entering the second generation, and look at the effect it has had already. Seriously, look around you.

You must understand the meat you eat and the dairy you consume; these animals are all potentially eating GM foods themselves. And you would never know. Buy organic, free range, grass fed meat to avoid this.

“Monsanto should not have to vouch for the safety of biotech food, our interest is in selling as much of it as possible. Assuring its safety is the job of the FDA.”
– Phil Angell,
Director of Corporate Communications,
Monsanto, NYT, October 1998

“Where is the scientific evidence showing that GM plants/foods are toxicologically safe, as assumed by the biotechnology companies?” was the concluding question posed in a 2007 review of published scientific literature on the health risks of GM plants, showing that the number of studies and available data are “very scarce.”

“The experiments simply haven’t been done and we now have become the guinea pigs. Anyone that says, ‘Oh, we know that this is perfectly safe,’ I say is either unbelievably stupid or deliberately lying.”
– David Suzuki, Renowned Canadian Geneticist

“I used to test for soy allergies all the time, but now that soy is genetically engineered, it is so dangerous that I tell people never to eat it.”
– Dr. John Boyles

The most common genetically modified crops are corn (maltodextrin, maize), soy (present in almost every product, a phyto-oestrogen), potatoes, sugar beets (present as sugar) and cottonseed and canola oils. These are all widespread in processed foods, without human testing. Soy, you will find, is ubiquitous in almost all products on store shelves. The likelihood of you unknowingly consuming a GMO is also high in these products due to their overwhelming prevalence. Virtually all remaining fruits, vegetables, grains and beans are at the mercy of Monsanto and the like.

Who and what is Monsanto? Monsanto is more or less the poster child for malignant corporate influence in government and technology. Monsanto is a US-based, multinational, agricultural, biotechnology corporation and leading producers of the herbicide Glyphosate (Round-Up) and of GM seeds (90% of seeds found in US market). 90% is a significant majority. And a scary actuality.
They create agricultural chemicals such as “Round-Up,” then genetically modify their seeds to be resistant to it (herbicide tolerant), and this is meant to solve the problem?

They have systematically tricked the public into allowing dangerous genetically modified foods in our diet, with Monsanto themselves in charge of determining if they’re safe or not. What do you suppose their conclusions are? Monsanto is uprooting our food supply and replacing it with their patented genetically engineered creations. Their genetically engineered abominations. We only have one world.

These mutations can cross pollinate. When the seeds travel they can invade non GM fields resulting in diverse and undesired propagation, contamination, mislabeling, and an impossible-to-maintain gene pool. The impact is devastating not only to organic farmers, whom stand to suffer immeasurable economic losses as a result, but also to future generations’ health and well-being, and ultimately to our Earth as a whole. And all while they make billions through their patented seeds. Patented life.

“It doesn’t matter how it gets there, it’s destroying your crop. All your crop becomes Monsanto’s ownership and they can lay a lawsuit on top of it against you. Even if the contamination rate is 1%, all the other 99% of your crop goes to Monsanto. And that’s what startled the world, how farmers can lose their rights overnight, an organic farmer can lose his seeds and his rights overnight, and get subject to a lawsuit.”

Biotech companies like Monsanto claim that genetic engineering is a necessary step towards feeding the world’s growing population and insists they are safe. However, all scientific data states otherwise.

The truth is, and I say with a grim satisfaction, there is no evidence to suggest GM foods facilitate a higher crop yield. The International Assessment of Agricultural Knowledge, Science and Technology for Development (IAASTD) report, authored by more than 400 scientists and backed by 58 governments, stated that GM crop yields were “highly variable” and in some cases, “yields declined.”

They continued to determine the current GMOs have nothing to contribute in reducing world hunger and wide-spread poverty, nor do they improve nutrition, health or facilitate social and environmental sustainability, as was previously established through fallacy. The food doesn’t taste better, doesn’t last longer, or have any more nutrients. On the contrary, GMOs divert money and resources which could otherwise be spent on more sustainable, reliable, and safe technologies.

Monsanto is also responsible for creating the chemical; code-named: ‘Agent Orange’, on behalf of the U.S. military during the Vietnam War. The purpose of the chemical was to deny the enemy any cover in dense terrain by defoliating trees and shrubs where the enemy was hiding. Vietnam estimates 400,000 of their people were killed or maimed, as well as half a million children born with birth defects as a result of their 10 year herbicidal warfare program, Operation Ranch Hand.

75.7 million Litres of defoliants and herbicides were sprayed over areas of South Vietnam to deprive the Viet Cong of vegetation cover and food. Even 40 years after, it is still claiming victims through cancer and serious genetic malfunctions. But has Monsanto been prosecuted for war-crimes? They claimed Agent Orange was safe through superficial, industry-funded and rigged research. Monsanto conducted deliberately flawed and coercive studies to “prove” Agent Orange’s safety, and all unfavourable findings were distorted or denied.

Almost seamlessly in the late 90’s, Monsanto switched focus from biological warfare chemicals to agricultural biotechnology. And NOW we entrust them with the majority of our food products and seeds. An estimated 60% of the worldwide food supply. Fascinating isn’t it.

Could there be another political agenda behind GM food? A more sinister political agenda? Perhaps to do just the opposite of what they claim? “Have we been mis-sold? Or were we even given a choice in the first place?”

“If people let government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny.” – Thomas Jefferson

I would strongly discourage consumption of genetically modified foods. They are a serious health threat but they are still but a fraction of what the public is being subjected to. There are literally a slew of other poisons we are being subverted with on a daily basis. A cavalcade of carcinogens that slip through the cracks of conscious thought. Please continue, and thank you for reading.

I haven’t gotten through this whole article yet, but the reduced digestive enzymes in rats is alarming, especially since my little one has CF and lacks digestive enzymes as it is! I will read more later today. Soccer game for my boy!
